With Facebook’s recent algorithm updates, brands are going to have to work harder and smarter in order to continue communicating with their fans. Organic reach continues to be a challenge, with a number of platforms becoming ‘pay-to-play’ games. Luckily, Twitter is one where you can still be successful without having to spend a dime.
With the right mindset and strategy, anyone can become a major player on a platform that has 330 million active monthly users. The question is, how do you break through all of the noise? Consistency is key
The average life of a ‘tweet’ is only 18 minutes, which means you’re going to need to publish a decent amount of content. Some brands post 40-50 times a day, and that doesn’t include replies to their fans. Fortunately, you won’t have to publish quite that many tweets to average a few thousand impressions a day. Personally, I prefer to post 5-6 times a day to Twitter, as this allows for a healthy combination of topics. I also make time everyday to retweet others’ content to ensure I’m giving my followers as much value as possible.
Value = Engagement
Before I schedule or publish a tweet, I think to myself “does the content of this post give my followers some kind of value?” If the answer is no, I look for something else. Twitter is one of the hardest platforms to receive engagement, simply because of the volume of content being published every second. If you take the time to craft your message while keeping the reader’s best interest in mind, you significantly increase the likelihood that your followers like, retweet or reply to your post. Remember, ALWAYS give the reader some kind of value.
Make it a conversation
One of my favorite aspects about Twitter is the fact that I’m able to connect with so many different people around the world who share similar interests as me. Furthermore, I’m able to connect with major influencers who I look up to, particularly within the digital marketing industry. Regardless of what you do, there are endless opportunities when it comes to connecting with like-minded individuals.
Another excellent way to grow your brand’s presence is to reach out to your followers, whether it’s asking them a question or simply thanking them for following. When companies go the extra mile on social media, people notice and remember. Take a little time each day and devote it to engaging with your community, as it will only help you in the long run.
Get on board with multimedia
There’s nothing more unappealing that a blurry or out-of-focus picture. In today’s digital world, quality is everything. Our smartphones alone have the ability to take high-resolution photos, so there’s no excuse for poor visuals. The more enticing images you within your content, the more people will notice!
